Built-in Cabinets and Interior Finish Carpentry

I’m always seeking opportunities to work with home owners, design professionals and other contractors in providing custom built-in cabinetry, millwork and finish carpentry. Here are a few examples of previous work.

Solid 1.25” thick sapele tops, stained with a water based dye stain, followed by three coats of polyurethane.

Tops are scribed at all three sides for a perfect fit against irregularities in walls.

These bookcases in the Cutis Park neighborhood of Sacramento, are floating 4” above the floor with no toekicks, per customer’s request. This allows for free air flow from the floor registers underneath.

Top section of a large hutch with arched face frames and cove crown molding, to be installed in a West Sacramento dining room and painted.

Bifolding, concealable doors use a high-quality ball-bearing track system.

Many newer homes are built with large empty niches, to be customized by the homeowner. I have built and installed a variety of cabinets and shelving systems to occupy these spaces.

Built in cabinetry uses a combination of premium, cabinet-grade veneer plywoods for cases, and solid lumber for all frame parts.

Stain-grade cabinets can be built from any common wood species; cherry, walnut, maple, sapele, etc., and can be custom stained to match other work in the home. Paint-grade cabinets have solid poplar or maple for all frame parts, and I work with a local paint shop for professional finishing options.

This new custom home in Auburn, CA needed coved crown molding on 15 degree vaulted ceilings, around bullnose corners. This was particularly challenging. Here it is before paint prep.

Live edge cedar slab, installed as a bar top at a barn-home conversion project in Newcastle, CA.

Attic access door, made from salvaged materials at a barn-home conversion project in Newcastle, CA.

I build all of my own cabinet doors in any style, unlike most production shops. Flush-inset doors are my most popular.

Adjustable shelves are standard for most built-in cabinetry.

Low living room bookcases in Midtown Sacramento, with beadboard backs and shaker style flush-inset doors.

Fully adjustable European hinges are used with a variety of door styles and types. These are partial inset, flat panel, paint-grade doors with a shaped inner profile.
